FOCUS AREAS

Through approachable yet in-depth policy analysis, hands-on candidate support, and community-building events, JDP addresses political division through substance, collaboration, and straightforward communication—ultimately elevating Utah’s political ecosystem and proving that good work for great impact can transform politics from the ground up.

POLICY ANALYSIS

Deep but Accessible: Translate legislative complexities, particularly budget details, into engaging, easy-to-digest materials (Substack, social media, in-person presentations).

Balanced Perspective: Present multiple viewpoints—highlighting how both major parties frame various issues and how to find a common solution.

Regular Updates: Stay relevant year-round, not just during legislative sessions or election cycles.

CANDIDATE RECRUITMENT

Identify Emerging Voices: Seek out professionals who excel in specific fields (e.g., finance, healthcare, environmental science) but may not have considered a political run. Supporting through barriers to run for office: employers, childcare, community and family support.

Elevate Policy Know-How: Encourage candidates to ground their platforms in evidence-based proposals that appeal to a wide array of voters.

Diverse Representation: Actively look for women, people of color, LGBTQ, and other underrepresented voices ready to step into leadership roles.

TRAINING

Campaign & Policy Workshops: Offer instruction on fundraising, messaging, and voter outreach, alongside deeper dives into legislative processes and budgets.

Networking & Mentorship: Connect trainees with seasoned legislators, experts, and community leaders who can share real-world insights.

Resources & Toolkits: Be a resource for candidates, constituents, and voters. Provide digital guides or “how-to” documents for campaign planning, media engagement, and constituent outreach.

COLLABORATION

Cross-Partisan Partnerships: Partner with nonprofits, think tanks, civic groups, and local businesses aligned with the PAC’s mission of bridging divides.

Expert Contributors: Bring in guest writers for the Substack, host expert panels at events, and co-develop policy briefs on specialized topics.

Community Coalitions: Build coalitions around key issues (healthcare, education, environment) to share data, amplify messages, and foster broader civic engagement. Potentially identify new policy solutions to old problems.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

Workshops & Happy Hours: Organize regular gatherings (policy workshops, community forums, policy happy hours) that encourage direct interaction among legislators, candidates, experts, and voters.

Town Halls & Q&A Sessions: Provide opportunities for the public to ask questions and share concerns in real-time, fostering trust and transparency.

On-the-Ground Networking: Introduce candidates to local influencers, community leaders, and potential donors—expanding their grassroots reach.
